The Schism of Mind and Heart by Sana Afreen Book Review

Do you ever start reading a book assuming that the title will be largely metaphorical… but then it turns out that the book is indeed in large part about The Schism of Mind and Heart, the conflict between our heart and mind.

I was enthralled by Sana’s unique voice and couldn’t wait to find out all of her words in this gem of a book that I picked up. We all go through certain situations in our life where we get torn apart by the conflict of heart and mind, this book guides you to a rational solution, if you let yourself.

the schism of heart 1

The Schism of Mind and Heart is a collection of prose and poetry exploring the themes of love, breakup, grief, inspiration, and self-love. Sana’s writing is insightful and thought-provoking. Her inspirational writings left a mark on me, motivating me to follow the advice she offered.

When she talks about depression, I could feel the pain in her words; I could relate to it. And when she advises you to love yourself without depending upon others, I could feel the strength and positivity behind the words.
I was impressed by the way she constructs sentences and plays with metaphors.

I asked the authoress, what inspired her to write this book, this was her answer- “The experiences of life that throw us off balance and the need to ventilate out these experiences. It’s both good and bad, and sometimes even devastating. I try to give forms to these experiences through my words, wondering if it might move, console and inspire someone who needs it.”

This book is a triumph. Everyone should read it. One of the best books I’ve read.
I give this book all 5 stars.
