During my visit to Shillong, India a few months ago I came across this beautiful valley and after wandering near a river, I started my hike upwards towards the hilltops. Suddenly I saw these huge rocks from distance, which later turned out to be burial ground as I got near, and it scared me soo much. The weather was humid and gloomy with little spells of rain, and my parents were a bit behind me, almost 2-3kms. It looked haunted and very much scary.
Suddenly my phone rang, rather very much loudly coz when you are at top of the mountain even a little bit of sound kind of echoes, my mom asked me where I am, I told her to come here as fast as she could, and when she finally did man I was so relieved.
Do not wander alone near these kinds of grounds please, especially not during monsoon weather. And if you do, click as many photos as you can, maybe you will capture something interesting π
It feels good to be lost in the right direction π β€

I always wanted to visit the northern part of india, moreover the Himalaya. I love read about it and see it in movies. You won’t feel like you are in india. It’s like you are in another nation.

Beautiful! I have always been drawn to old cemeteries and ancient burial grounds. There’s something about the peaceful silence that calms me. In your situation, monsoons are terrifying on their own and I would have been extremely anxious about mudslides and rapid flooding. It is quite beautiful and I’m sure the residents were happy to have you visit their permanent resting place. If you fear these types of places, just remind yourself that you are surrounded by someone’s loved ones. Someone’s grandparents, parents, children, brother, sister, aunts and uncles. These are not terrifying beings, simply people, who have laid down for their final rest. βΊ

your comment made my morning, soo sweet words dr. I understand your view, but movies ruined me π

I can completely understand that. Movies tend to cause people to fear things, which should not be scary. I would definitely be running and screaming if zombies were actually real. I would also be fearful if I even had a thought of the deceased coming back to life. Just because a fear is labeled irrational, doesn’t make the person fearing it any less afraid. Fear is real even if the things we fear are not. *hugs* I am glad you made it out safely and no zombies attacked. π

I actually find burial grounds peaceful. It is like being around people but not having to converse. It is friendlier than being out in the middle of the woods alone, for me. π

That would be a pretty freaky I suppose! But as I have never seen one, I am not sure what my reaction would be. Ideally, I hope I would think on my feet and just enjoy the phenomenon, as how often do you see something like that, and it is not like it can hurt you π

That’s why I don’t watch horror movies. They always make you think the worst will happen. I like to think of life in a cup half full fashionβΊ

me too, but it is too late. watched all kinds of horror stuff, and most of my writings are influenced by that π

Ooh, nah. Don’t like horror. I love writing based on it, that is excellent, but films can be a bit scary. Saying that, I have borrowed a film to watch from a fellow blogger this weekend which is supposed to be scary. At least I have my giant sloth to hide behind!!! You see, I am not brave at all. Horror movies shatter all positivity, because someone IS going to die, and it won’t be nice. If they tell you that at the beginning of the film, is there any more to know? XD XD
